Does anyone know all of the, gymkhana, horse games?

I was trying to figure out a list but could only find about five to eight games, does anyone know any fun ones?|||When I first started competing, I was either 5 or 6, and my parents took me to play-days. As I am from Texas, all of the ones that I went to were all western, and most were timed events. I have listed all that I remember that are horse based.





1.) Cloverleaf Barrels





2.) Straight Barrels





3.) Pylon Race





4.) Pole Bending





5.) Flag Race





6.) Baseball Race (Like the Flag Race, but you have to pick up a baseball and toss it into a barrel right before you cross the finish line.)





7.) Stakes or Keyhole Race





8.) Rescue Race (One person stands on a barrel, and the other person has to pick them up, and they ride double back.)





9.) Another one that was done when I was a kid, was a kind of relay race where the dads had to stand in the middle of the arena and the kids had to carry a HUGE pair of panties to them. The dad or mom would then have to put the panties on and run back across the finish line. We all thought that it was hilarious, I am not sure if the parents quite agreed.





10.) I vaguely remember something where everyone rode around the arena like a Western Pleasure class, but we had to carry an egg in a spoon. If you dropped your egg, you were out.|||OK Here we go-

How do I teach my horse Parelli's Seven Games?

I've watched the DVD that Parelli sells, read numerous online articles, and yet I can't seem to get it. To me it seems that Shawnee (my horse) may be to trained for the basic games, I'm not sure though. Can anyone give me some hints with the Seven Games and how to teach them.... Maybe I'm doing something wrong...





Thanks!|||I had the same problem with my horse, no matter how many times I watched pat or linda do it, or how many articles i read, i just couldn't do it! I hired a parelli instructor to come out and help me, and it was the best thing i could of done. She showed me every little thing that made a difference, Who'd have known an expression on my face could stop my horse from yo-yoing? lol. So thats the best advice I can give.





In the meantime, make sure you are taking everything slowly, and in order. For eg. get game 1 (the friendly game) mastered before you move on. Dont leave it half finished because your horse won't learn it then go to game 2 or another, it will just confuse him more. They are in order because you use the previous games as methods to help you in the next games! if that makes sense lol!


You also have to be VERY patient. Teaching the seven games to my horse (she was 1 at the time - no attention span!) was a long long process. If your horse freaks at the friendly game, start by using your hands, then a rope, then progress to the carrot stick. Get him used to rubbing it over him before throwing and tossing it around. I can't explain the other games on here, I'll be here all day! But I don't know exaclty what you're having trouble with. But I definitely think a trainer could help you. Just make sure its a proper parelli professional (they are advertised on the parelli website).

Your horse doesn't have to learn anything. The games teach you how to communicate with your horse. Parelli isn't a horse trainer, he is a people trainer.





The seven games are like the ABC's to horses. They are simple and boring and are just the very first basics that you have to learn to communicate with your horse. So you just have to learn them properly. I would recommend finding a natural horsemanship trainer or certified parelli trainer and going to a clinic or hiring them to come to your place and teach you. You just have to learn to how use your body language and the tools properly to communicate with your horse.





It is very difficult to see what you are doing right and wrong without having another set of knowledgable eyes to guide you. If you can't find someone who has already mastered the games to help you or you can't afford a natural horsemanship trainer, try videotaping yourself. Then you can compare what you are doing with what you see on the DVD and try to perfect your technique.|||If you don't have the kit, my granddaughter wrote out some notes about each game. Let's Ride Silverbuckle Stables- This is my favorite game of the let's ride series. You first choice your person, then you get to custom make your horse. You feed, groom, and give treats to him/her as well. You start out as a A class rider and make you way up to a AAA. Every class has 4 competions, and in each competion you compete in different western events from barrels, key hole, figure eights, hurry scurry, poles, and much much more.





Horsez- This is a good horse game for someone who is older, and able to understand it. You chose your horse and get to chose your daily activities. It's pretty fun, but is able to get very confusing.

What are some games to play at a horse camp that you can play off the horse?

I am working at this horse camp this summer and we take about an hour lunch break, and for most of the kids this seems to long as they get bored and want to ride again, but we need to give the horses a break, so i needed some ideas of games that will keep the younger and older kids entertained, and hopefully theses games have things to do with horses too! Thanks|||What a great job for you this summer--being around horses. LOL. And kids.





The horses AND staff and campers should all take a break and recover from heat. Everyone must sit, chill, eat and drink and drink some more.





Maybe you can set out some horse books that are suitable for the different ages of your campers.





Find horse and pony coloring book pictures. Place boxes of crayons or coloring pencils and sharpeners on the tables. There are good pictures you can copy from the internet too!


You (staff) will not have to participate or help them--keep on relaxing.





Or they can sketch and color their own horse pictures---maybe their favorite camp horse.





Save horse shoes or ask farrier to please save old ones for your camp.


Use Tempura Paint for campers to paint the shoes. From local hobby store get all kinds of adds on--tiny bows, ribbons, tiny flowers, feathers, fake gems (don't forget masculine for the boys), etc that can be glued on to the shoe. Stay away from messy glitter! The campers can take this home at end of the week as a souvenir.


Again--do not help the kids. This is your break and you need it!!!


Let them be creative. All you have to do is place the boxed craft items, glue, and shoes out for them the kids to work with. TELL me to pick their mess up and wash their hands. This project may take more than one lunch break--so kids can finish the next day or so.





DVD's are also a wonderful idea too!!





Good luck with ideas--it is nice of you to start preparing now so everyone has a good time.





Remember you and the kids need some downtime as well.|||May sound silly but how about a game of horseshoes?





Have a lasso competition with a fake calf or some kind of target to rope from various distances.





Have a hay bale race where teams of 2 roll a hay bale 50 yards or so..

I work at a horse camp too. It is a lot of fun, but you are right the lunch break is a long time for kids to wait. Here are some fun ideas. Have all the kids in the arena and put poles out, or jumps. If you do western you can put out barrels and have the kids around the arena and say trot, then walk, the canter. They love this. Then tell them to jump the poles and jumps. I hope this helps!!|||you can get them to jump over the horses' jumps. make little courses and see who can go the highest and fastest. for prizes u can give out stickers or sumthing.|||pair up the kids. put a blind fold on on of the kids. have the kid hold a lead rope in each hand. the other kid will stand behind them holding the lead rope. the non-blind folded kid has the us the leads as rains and steer the other kid through and obstacle course. time the pairs to see who can go the fastest.|||I use to run a horse day camp that lasted a week and I agree that both the campers and especially the staff need a break but here are a few ideas that we did:


At lunch time we would do a horse quiz with all level of questions.


Scherades is always fun, we had things like cleaning a saddle, brushing a horse....


Scavenger hunts went over well...put them into teams and give them each a list.


DVDs are always a good idea and sometimes you can catch a cat nap if needed.

Have a piece of paper for each kid. Have something from a barn/stable on it. It could be a horse shoe, a bridle, a saddle, a hoof scraper, a crop, a bail of hay, a helmet...or whatever is in your stable. Take a piece of tape and put it on the pieces of paper. Have the kids stand in a line and close their eyes. Stick one piece on each kids back. Then they will have to go around to other people and try to get hints of what their thing is. They can also tell others hints on what is on their back. But no straight out telling what it is. Once everyone is done, scramble them up and play again!

while we are taking our lunch break, some of the kids play kick the can in the barn, like hide and seek, ecxept kicking the can before your tagged. But sometimes the kids have races in the arena, on feet, like runnung through the barrels and poles so they get the pattern down pact. hope i helped!|||I work at a horse camp over the summer as well. All of the above ideas are great, but they sound to me like you'd be doing an awful lot of work over your lunch break. And not only do the horses need to rest and cool off, but you and the campers do, too.





What we generally do is all the workers and instructors bring in a few of their horse-y movies on the first day of camp. The campers get to vote on what movie they'd like to watch. (And if your camp is about a week long, like ours is, you can generally fit in two movies, so everyone gets to watch at least one movie they want.) So we just put in the movie and everyone settles down and cools off for an hour. Of course, some of the littler kids are still antsy to get out again, but you're going to get that with any group of kids. :)|||This may sound silly but Piggy Back Races are fun! The older girls can give piggy backs to the younger kids and can race against each other!


You can also do some relay races where you have to grab like a horse bucket then bring it somewhere then using a lead rope they can do three jumps in jump rope with the lead rope etc.


You can also make two groups and some horse trivia!|||what we do every year is, we have some of the smaller kids get on the backs of the bigger kids that are willing (they can do it by themselves too) and puton a little show. have them pick names for their imaginary horses and pick a winner. they could jump or barrels or whatever. its so cute to watch and do.lol|||a game of horseshoes!





paint the pony! (with horse safe paint lol) ive done this when i was a conselor. they LOVED it! they put hand prints and draw its really cute, just make sure you have a safe horse or pony. take a picture too and give each of them one because its really memorable!|||They could do arts and crafts and such while the horses are taking a break. You could suggest making pretty signs for their favourite horses' stall. I did that at a horse camp one time, it was alot of fun :) Hope I helped!

I just got a horse and I dont want him to think that all i am to him is just someone who rides him. I want to spend time with him and bond. But i just can seem to think of any games that you can actually play with a horse. Any ideas?|||You do not have to be doing something with your horse all the time. Just spend time getting to know him. Groom him, talk to him so he gets to know your voice. If he is a typical horse, he likes that you are someone who rides him.|||I taught one of my horses to fetch his feed bucket and another one to bow. I also have taught most of them that when I say their name and point to the ground in front of me that I want them to come to me. Just spend time with him, brush him, do things he enjoys, he probably will bond and won't care if it's games or what.|||feed sugar cubes

Does anyone know of any winter horse games?

riding in the winter gets really boring and cold. In the summer we play soccer and go swimming. i don't want to do things like barrel racing or pole bending or jumping cuz we only have an outdoor arena and im afraid he might slip in the snow. does anyone know of any games you can play in the winter in the snow?|||Winter in ohio sure can get snowy but when theres less than a foot or so of snow we hitch a sled behind our horses and pull each other around. just be careful that you have a quiet horse. I have also seen in some magazines some sort of skiing behind horses? I have never done that though!|||I have pulled my dad on down hill ski's behind my horse. That was fun! I also like trail riding in the winter and snow!

The games are the ONLY Parelli thing worth doing|||Play tag- This takes some training, but once they get it it's a lot of fun. You run at them, and then run away. After awhile they'll get the hang of it.





Teach them how to bow. Take a treat and put it between their two front legs. You might need to encourage them by putting on their halter and pulling their head down.





Play soccer- My pony loved this one





Vaulting- You'll need a calm horse for this one





Swimming- If your horse has never swam before, this one will take some training too. You can even go in the water without making them swim|||play who has the apple and where is the apple or send me the apple and i will eat it|||put an apple int the water trough and do apple bobbing, LOL it looks hilarious :)

I decided to give my horse some time off till I can get a saddle fiter out. I am looking for some fun games and ground work I can do with my filly.|||You could teach her to bow and lie down and such. Look into pat perrali training stuff and there are cool tricks that he teaches yearlings!|||you can teach your horse to be perfect at ground training. teach her to side pass and back up and back up around corners while you just wiggle the lead rope. you can set up tarps(with our without water) and walk over them and set up stuffed animals that she can side pass over or back through and set up a clothes line thing with stuff hanging so she has to walk under it. those are great bonding exercises because she has to learn to trust you|||well i personally love jumping the jumps on foot with her. its very 1 on 1 and you and the horse will love it. also why not teach her some tricks? or work her ground skills... teacher to walk at your sidee without a lead rope... or even teach her to pick up a bag with her mouth... there are tons of things you can do.|||Well there isnt really games I can think of but there is basic groundwork:


-Basic groundwork


-Set up scary objects to work with


-Backing and stopping


-Turning


Etc....etc...Im too lazy to type it all.





As I have said before, no lunging until 4 or better yet 5. They are not fully developed.|||ground training. but dont keep doing the same patteren over and over. change it up an keep her focused on you. =)

Hi, i have a foal, about 4 weeks old i think, mabye slightly more, mite be closer to two months. Well, i want to train him to do some cool games, so far ive managed to get him to play tag.|||awesome! tag youre it! next...just like a kid or a dog..horses of all ages..most animals..respond the same or similar way as kids or dogs...i found that out while i was a stable keep and eventually trained..works great! they need to know youre the friend and authority...

Syd|||The only horse game I know of that has a horse you can actually see, take care of and ride is Horseland.com





Each horse and rider have an "avatar". This avatar can be customized and you can buy tack and clothes for your horse and yourself. You can ride your horse around a world, meet other people and chat with them.





Horseland has all the regular "sim horse game" features like: detailed breeding, pedigree lines, health, buying/bidding of horses, etc. I found that more of the older players (like myself!) really like these features and specialize in them.





Horseland also has a TON of customization, online any other game I've seen. You can customize your homepage with HTML and pictures. People specialize in making and selling layouts. Each horse can have a custom photo (which people also sell if you like).





One of the coolest features of Horseland are the 3D things. You can ride your horses around a 3D world and talk with other people. You can compete with your horses in 3D Jumping Shows. You can even design your own Jumping shows and have other people enter them!

What breed of horse is best suited to games?

i love mounted games and i want a horse that will enjoy and be good at them.


any suggestions?|||I find that the best games ponies vary as to what age/height you are.





'Tiny Tots' up to about 6/7 are best on Shetlands or Miniatures as they are easily steered and easy to jump on to. However, make sure they are well trained, as minitures are known for being cheeky at times!





For Kids from 7-9 I'd recommend a welsh sec A/B pony or a similar pony. These are light on their feet whilst remaining tough, and are able to be field-based all year, with the right care, rugs if necessary and knowledge of laminitis and other seasonal nasties.





For pre-teens and teens small quarter horses, paints and stock ponies are recommended. These are quick on their feet, and tend to be calm around flags and other equipment.





Adults or taller teens should be fine on average-sized quarter or stock horses, and paints. Generally, if you can vault onto it, its fine

Have any of you played any of the horse games for Gameboy DS?

If so, which ones and what did you think of them? I know a little girl who loves horses and she has one of those gameboy DS, but I had no idea how many games they sell for those things and I don't know which one she would like best. Thanks!|||Its actually called a "Nintendo DS" (nintendo killed off the gameboy back in '06) But,there's a game called Horsez she might like.

Horse games...?

Does anyone know of any simple games I can play on the ground with my 2 year old gelding to deepen our relationship. I can tell he is warming up to me (I've only had him for 2 weeks) and I want to encourage him to bond with me. I go to the stable every day....even twice a day most of the time, just to spend time with him grooming, tending to his wounds (he was just gelded) and hand walking him. He's been introduced to tack, and I've been on his back a couple times (my vet gave me the OK) but I am really looking for some easy ground work games. Any suggestions?|||Buy the horse a bag of carrots, they just love carrots.


talk to the horse and be gentle|||To me it sounds like you are doing all the right stuff. It takes time to build a relationship with a horse. They are flight creatures. Keep doing what you are doing.|||Once the gelding wounds heal, I suggest lunging. I was having a hard time connecting to my 5 yr. old QH mare, and she would never be focused while riding, ignoring cues, etc. So, my trainer suggested lunging, and it has done WONDERS for us. When we bought her, she had just completed her full-training, but was still a little green.





The first few days/weeks were tough, she would resent being restricted to a circle, kick at the lunge whip, but eventually she became so much better! We worked on transitions in each direction, canter to trot, trot to walk, walk to stop, then back up again. She slowly began to respect my space, and our relationship grew considerably. Lunging definitely isn't something you can just go out and expect to do well the first time. It is a bonding and training experience.





Another suggestion I have is to practice no-lead following. If you have access to an arena, take your horse into the arena (preferrably without other horses around) with a halter and lead rope. For the first few times, walk him around in circles, run with him on the ground, back him, etc. Once you feel like he is focused enough on you, and calm in the arena, take off the halter and just loop it around his neck in case you need to grab him. See if he will follow you around the arena, practice doing circles, etc. If he begins to move away from you, just grab the halter around his neck and try again. This is an exercise that I recommend ONLY if you feel comfortable enough to do so, and if you feel your horse is ready. This exercise is INCREDIBLE if done correctly and diligently. In following you, the horse shows that he wants to be led by you, and he wants you to be his guide. This can help with further training, bonding, etc.

I believe Monty Roberts teaches it and I'm not exactly sure how to do it myself but I achieved it for a few minutes the other day with my 6 month old colt.





You could also lunge him, that's always a good thing to teach a horse to do. Hand walk him in patterns, like around cones or barrels. Try having it so he walks next to you without a lead rope. It takes awhile but you'll get to that point eventually.

ever tried seeing how far his neck can bend side to side? it's really good for their necks so they don't get stiff|||I often do this with my horses. When they are in the paddock or enclosed paddock I run/walk/jog around and tempt them to follow me and praise them when the do.|||lateral lunging. ground work: teach him to back up, side step, hold his tail and make him touch his nose to the tip of it...those kinds of things. riding him is good and if you just go in and pet him, talk to him in a sweet voice, pick up his hooves and just stand there with it rubbing his leg at the same time, lift up his lip and see if he lets you play with his mouth. he will trust you even more after awhile of doing things like that.|||Keep up what you are doing. That really helps. Umm just spend time with him, like grazeing, grooming, chatting about the day you had. They really do listen.

You actually get to groom and tack up your horse, you get to ride it, there is live chats every night where you can talk to other horse lovers, and you can get more than one horse and buy different colored saddle pads and clothes and stuff. If you join my username is horselvr101 and I can help you and stuff.|||well i really like both of those you have but another one would be horseland.com!|||If you want some really realistic graphics - where it's really like you are riding a horse and going places, lessons etc. - I'd have to say My Horse Club and Riding Club are two of the best online horse games. But you have to download them and Riding Club is only two hours free then you subscribe (I don't think it's too expensive but I don't know if you just want free horse riding games). With My Horse Club there is a free basic version but then you have to buy trading cards for other stuff and I don't think they are in the US yet (not that I know of).





You might also want to try Mystable and HorseIsle. HorseIsle kind of reminds me of Animal Crossings for DS but it can be very addicting.





I agree Club Pony Pals is a cute one and you get to ride your horse to different places.

How to get ready for a horse show ( games)?

I am going to a horse show and I am entering the game competitions ( pole bending, arena race etc.). Would you get your horse ready for that? Like not exercise but looks. I haven't shown in like 2 years ( besides a fun show).


Thanks for help.|||I would use color... A LOT. like you can go "clean" and mostly have just brown white or black tack, or you can do what i do. Red polos on the front, Superman blue polos on the back, my western pad is red,blue and hunter green, i have the ear thingies with tassles and its hunter green and red, i wear my trusty jeans, hunter green helmet, black gloves, and to finish it off a hunter green and white plaid shirt, with a blue bell boots on the front,and my chestnut saddle and bridle. and THAT is how you you stab and grab in flags race,race with pace in barrels, and slice and dice in flags!|||Sporting or gaming comps are pretty lenient with looks:) You don't need to plait up or wash your horse. Just groom her up till he shines.


Do you have matching tack?


I've noticed a big rush of color co-ordination in sporting!


Match your shirt with your saddle cloth and horse boots, and even the same colored ribbon in her tail would look nice!


Also, make sure all your tack is sparkly clean:)





Good luck and have fun!|||Cool sounds fun!! groom her up real good if you aren't bathing her then, braid her hair up nicely, paint her hooves for some shine, make sure your looking good yourself :p and just have fun! i've never done games, only huntseat showing, etc.|||Spray paint designs on her! It looks so cool:) braid her tail and add ribbons as a braid. Paint the hooves! Wear matching gear like purple beast collar her and purple hat over for u! Be experimental and try new things :) have fun and good luck;)|||Honestly, you don't really need to bathe her if you're just doing games. Maybe some fun ribbons in her tail and glitter on her hooves. Just have fun with it. I see a lot of people do that for speed events.|||Sounds like fun!


If it was me i would probably plait my horse up and just make sure they were well groomed

first of all the stirrups have to be fairly short so that they can stand up in them.


have them ride the horse/s walk


1 stand up in you stirrups (so you are out of the saddle) with you legs totally strait


2 then let your heels sink down as low as you can


3 hold this position as long as you can while your horse walks


to make it fun you can make it a game between the 2 of them by seeing who can do it the longest|||Learning to ride takes a lot of time plus they have to really want to otherwise they aren't going to pay attention to you. A game can make it more fun but not necessarily help with them stay in position. Simon Says can be fun.

it is virtual, you have horses and quests and you get to ride and take care of your horse. there are loads of isles and levels and its the best game ever.

way better than any of the others. Howrse is a bit boring, all you see is a 2D pic of a horse and they all look the same. Horse isle has about 40-50 diff breeds in diff colours, you get to buy or catch wild horses and train them yourself.

its the best game ive tried so far|||HorseLand is a pretty good game, but it's full of snobby players. And since you interact with all the other players in order to play the game, it can get annoying sometimes.





Here is a fun show jumping game. You have to work to get to the highest level (level 4), and there are three horses you can use. It's pretty addicting, even though at first it's pretty hard, but you get the hang of it.

Do you know any free online horse games where you can adopt a virtual horse and play, feed, and train it and do racing and showjumping.|||First of all, my apologies that this is such a long answer, but it does need some explaining.





My recommendation is that you give Second Life a try.





One of the many things you can do in Second Life is to buy and ride a horse. Since the recent introduction of what is called 'sculptie prims' the horses in SL have become much more reaistic.





You can buy almost any breed of horse you can think of with a choice of American or English saddle - even a side saddle if you wish. You can even have a carriage.





Optional extras include stables and various stable tools - for example, the brushes allow you to brush your horse. The SL AKK Ranch includes 2 large sims (regions) with areas to ride though as well as two show jumping areas. You do not have to restrict yourself to the ranch though. There are other areas suitable for riding. If you have a love of all things Victorian, then the Caledon areas are great fun to ride through in SL and the owners of that area actively ecourage people with Victorian-dressed avatars to ride in Caledon.





If medieval or fantasy is more your thing, there are regions where you can dress your avatar in suitable clothes and ride there. I even saw a jousting arena in one such area.


Controlling the horse is simple - it's a variation of the SL walk/run/jump system, and I explain that later.





It's free to join and play Second Life. However, the horses - like many things in SecondLife - are not free. They cost around L$2000 (that's about $8 US or 拢4 UK). However, you can obtain a demo horse for free at the ranch, so you do get the chance to see if you like SL horse riding before you part with your money. The Demo horse is good for three tries. In other words, you sit on the horse and until you take it off, that is one use of the horse. After the third use you cannot use it again and you cannot get another demo horse.





The horses are sold at a place called the AKK Ranch. It's not hard to find. When you join SL, go through orientation and then help island. After that you go to a welcome area. From this point you are all alone in the SL world. So click on the search button at the bottom of the screen and look in 'Places'. Search for the following places and pick up lots of freebies.

There are lots of other places that have freebies, but you will need to speak to someone like me who knows where they all are.





When you are ready, do a search for AKK Ranch and teleport there. It's important to know one thing about the demos. You get a notecard that tells you to drag the horse from your inventory to the ground. DON'T!! It takes up one of your free uses of the horse. Instead, right click on the horse in your inventory and select 'wear'. I know it sounds silly, but that's how it works.





Use the direction keys to move about.


Press CTR %26amp; R together to change to gallop. Do this again to return to trot.


Tap the Page Up key to jump.





That's all there is to it.





You can buy a variety of riding clothes in Second Life. On the face of it, SL can appear to be a bit expensive to play, but if you know where to look it can be very cheap. If you do want to be able to spend money in SL, you will need to add your credit card details to your account page, but you only buy as much SL money as you need to. To begin with, there is a cap on how much money you can purchase each week. That's to stop you from going crazy early on and ending up with a huge real life credit card bill. You will quickly give yourself an SL allowance and stick to it.





You will also make friends with other horse enthusiasts in Second Life. Two of my best friends in SL are horse owners in real life - one of them competing in shows (and people say us SL players don't have a real life? ha!).

And the only horse breeding games i can find are avirtualhorse.com and howrse and on avirtuahorse i think is boreign and howrse you have to have money.
